INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT

DIVERSITY IN DIALOGUE

The primary objective of Diversity in Dialogue’ is to make a quantitative and qualitative improvement in the participation of European citizens with learning disabilities in political processes.

The activities to implement are:

  1. A Pilot European Leadership in Politics’ Programme for 40 self advocates, identified as future leaders, and role models within the Learning Disability Movement throughout Europe, resulting in a comprehensive package of 4 modules available in easy to read English, Portuguese and Danish.

  2. Advocates for Change - Placements for people with learning disabilities in political environments at local, national and European level, within offices of politicians, within offices of disability and social NGOs.

  3. The establishment of an ad hoc Presidents’ Committee on Learning Disability, that will convene the Presidents’ of the European Commission, European Parliament, and European Council, or their representatives twice during the life time of the project.

  4. A Public Hearing in Brussels where European self advocates meet with a broad range of politicians and policy-makers to highlight what has been achieved during the project, how this will be taken forward, and their demand for real political participation in the future, also within the Disability Movement.
